Health Tourism: Opportunity Portuguese

The president of the Business Association of  Portugal (AEP) said in Matosinhos that it has no doubts that "Portugal can and will be competitive" in health tourism, due to its "natural conditions". 

José António Barros spoke at the entrance to the presentation of Healthy'n Portugal - Expansion of Healthcare and Health Tourism in Portugal, which brought together investors, operators and technicians at Exponor.

The project is an initiative of AEP and Health Cluster Portugal, an entity created in April 2008 for the country to be "competitive" in health and chaired by Luís Portela.

The session held today aimed at "drawing attention and showing the opportunities" offered by this specific tourist area, which can help to "correct the Portuguese trade balance".

To this end, the country offers "a quality service, which compares with the best countries in the world in many areas".

"We do not have yet, the international recognition in this area, which is fundamental, "he stressed.

The health tourism target countries will be defined by a working group set up within the framework of the partnership between AEP and Health Cluster Portugal, but Luís Portela said that it is a matter "with some European countries, but also in the Far East, such as the India or Thailand ".

José António Barros was confident: "It is an area that has a huge growth margin, where there is almost everything to do, in terms of infrastructure, because almost everything is done at the level of knowledge. parents".
